Dr. Muhammad Hammad Rasool

Dr. Muhammad Hammad Rasool is a Post Doctoral Researcher at the Institute of Sustainable Energy and Resources, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (Malaysia). He is among the Top 10 Petroleum Engineering Scientists in Malaysia as per AD Scientific Index 2026. His research lies at the intersection of drilling engineering, geochemistry, and carbon storage, with a focus on developing sustainable materials and data-driven solutions for the energy transition.

He pioneered the use of Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) as eco-friendly shale inhibitors in drilling mud; an innovation that led to various international recognition in form of publications and chapters. His current research explores valorisation of waste materials as multifunctional drilling fluid additives, acid-resistant cement systems for CO₂ storage wells, and the application of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) in CCS. Dr. Hammad has guest-edited international special issues on CO₂ sequestration and sustainable drilling technologies, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in low-carbon subsurface engineering. His interdisciplinary approach bridges geochemistry, materials science, and digital modelling, driving innovations that align energy security with environmental responsibility.
